Happy 24th birthday, Nikki Reed!  Still a newlywed, with last season American Idol finalist Paul McDonald, Nikki appeared earlier this year in the music video for “Now That I’ve Found You” in which she sang with Paul and also directed the video.  We’re looking forward to seeing Nikki take on Rosalie Hale one last time in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ this November.  Follow Nikki on twitter and read her blog IAmNikkiReed.com to find out what she is up to.

Kristen Stewart and “Snow White and the Huntsman” appear in Universal Orlando’s new nighttime spectacular opening tonight

Universal Pictures is promoting "Snow White and the Huntsman" in its theme parks this summer with billboard like this one in Universal Orlando. SWATH also is featured in Universal Orlando's new nighttime water show.

If you are heading to the Universal Studios Orlando Resort you may catch a glimpse of Kristen Stewart.  Today, May 8, Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla. premieres its new nighttime show, “Universal Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories.” I happened upon last night’s final preview performance while on vacation and was excited to see this new show that combines elements remeniscent of Disney’s nighttime water shows like “Fantasmic,” “World of Color,” and “Illuminations,” but with Universal’s theatrical spin utilizing waterfall screens, fountains and fireworks with narration by Morgan Freeman.

The show is divided into five “acts” of Universal movie memories themed around  heroes, horror, laughter,  good vs. evil, and triumph.  The memories covered the 100 years of Universal movies including memories yet to be made. Upcoming Universal Pictures 2012 summer releases are included in the show such as “Battleship” and “Snow White in the Huntsman.”  There is a quick glance of Charlize Theron as Queen Raveena early in the show.  During the “Good vs. Evil” segment there is footage of the battle with Kristen Stewart as Snow White charging on her horse as well as a later clip of Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman followed by some more battle footage.  Kristen appears again, sword in hand, during the “Triumph” section.

The show opens tonight and runs nightly throughout the summer and then on select nights through the end of the year at Universal Orlando on the Universal Studios Lagoon.  I really enjoyed the clips from many famous and favorite movies and highly recommend taking it in if given the opportunity. Your best location for optimal viewing will most likely be by the waterfront near Mel’s Drive-in.

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1″ nominated for two MTV Movie Awards

The cast of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" after the movie took home five 2011 MTV Movie Awards including Best Movie.

Last week MTV announced major changes to the MTV Movie Awards that had some Twilight fans questioning if this was MTV’s way of  ending “The Twilight Saga’s” annual dominance of the awards.  In the past, the nominations were voted on by fans, but in a surprise move MTV announced that The “2012 MTV Movie Awards” nominees will be elected by a special voting Academy, including members of the MTV audience. In addition, the winner of “Breakthrough Performance” will be decided on solely by a special Academy of Directors who will lendtheir expertise for spotting and developing new talent.

Apparently the “special voting Academy” did not have as much love for “The Twilight Saga” as the fans have in the past.  ”Breaking Dawn, Part 1″ received just TWO nominations – Movie of the Year and Best Kiss – Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.  ”The Hunger Games” and “Bridesmaids” received the most nominations with eight each, followed by “21 Jump Street” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ with six each.

“Twilight Saga” alum, Bryce Dallas Howard, was honored with several nominations for her role in “The Help” including Best Cast, Best Gut-wrenching Performance, and Best On-Screen Dirtbag.

Voting for the the MTV Movie Awards opens at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT tomorrow, May 1 and will stay open until Saturday, June 2.  The Movie of the Year voting will remain open through the east coast live airing of the show on Sunday, June 3, from the Gibson Ampitheatre at Universal City, Calif.  The show will air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/PT. For more information and to vote visit the MTV Movie Awards site.

So what are your thoughts on the new “Academy” nominations?  Do you think it’s fair? How do you feel about “Breaking Dawn’s” two nominations?
