Target and Walmart are the retailers that are battling for Twilight fans business this evening with events and special edition packaging DVDs and Blu-rays to entice you to their stores. Here’s the rundown and some updated information on their events.
Target is offering an exclusive in-store sneak peek at “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2” at 11 p.m., one hour prior to the midnight release of “Part 1” on DVD and Blur-ray. At 9 p.m. tonight, participating Target locations will begin distributing tickets for the purchase of the DVD or Blu-ray at guest services.

In addition to the regular packaging, Target is selling a unique limited edition packaging that includes an authentic prop flower from the movie set encased in a collectible keepsake case featuring a wedding portrait of Edward and Bella (DVD $29.99, Blu-ray $32.99). According to Target.com, this special edition is sold out online, but will be available in stores.
Also, from Target’s facebook page we have learned that there is a dress up contest:

Target is carrying some exclusive “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” merchandise as pictured above. My store is under renovation so if you have spotted anything other than these items I saw last night, please let us know. The available items include Edward and Jacob tees ($12.99), trio iPad cases ($39.99), iPhone case with either the trio or Edward and Bella ($24.99), and Cullen crest ear buds ($19.99). Also, many of the Twilight Saga books and previous DVDs/Blu-rays are on sale.

Bella and Edward exclusive fabric poster that comes with the Walmart Bella's Wedding Dress edition DVD or Blu-ray.
As for Walmart, beginning at 11 p.m. more than 2,700 Walmart stores will hold “Twilight” parties featuring giveaways, movie trivia, a bakery stocked with “Twilight” themed treats such as cupcakes and cakes, and a cameo appearance from Rosalie Cullen (Nikki Reed) on Walmart’s in-store television network while waiting for the midnight release.
Walmart is calling their version the Bella’s Wedding Dress edition and includes a fabric poster featuring Bella and Edward at the wedding, and music videos (DVD $22.96, Blu-ray $26.96 online).
I stopped at my local Walmart last night and didn’t see any displays or merchandise, but they did have signs about the midnight event at the entrances and exits of the store.
“The Breaking Dawn, Part 1” DVD and Blu-ray Special Features are the same on each version and include a six-part “making-of” documentary, Edward and Bella wedding video, two fast forward features that will take you to “your favorite” Edward and Jacob scenes, and audio commentary by director Bill Condon. No deleted/extended scenes or cast member audio commentary is listed to the dismay of fans who were hoping for additional wedding or honeymoon footage and more quips from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Wherever you go this evening, have a great time and enjoy your movie watching weekend!
