Twilight: The Musical benefit concert plays NYC on 1/16

Twilight: The Musical, a parody, will be presented as a benefit concert reading in a one-night only performance at the New York City Off-Broadway venue New World Stages on Monday, January 16 at 8 PM.

According to the show’s website: Twilight: The Musical is a parody of theTwilight saga in the vein of Urinetown and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Twilight: The Musical examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen.

With a song titled “I Imprinted on an Infant” it seems that this 2 hour and 15 minute musical may cover the entire Twilight Saga. Other songs include “Life Sucks When Your Boyfriend is a Vampire” and “Death Never Sounded So Good.”

The concert is directed by Off-Broadway director Gabriel Barre and features a cast of Broadway performers. Tickets are $51.50 for general tickets and $76.50 for premium tickets and available at Telecharge.

This performance benefits Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization that provides elementary schoolchildren who are on federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. The program is currently feeding more than 55,000 children in 318 schools in Canada, Columbia, Haiti and 37 U.S. states.

The evening is being presented by Liz Ulmer, Moxyrah Productions, and Dreamcatcher Entertainment. Their goal is to raise $5,000.  If you can’t attend, but would like to make a donation visit: http://www.indiegogo.com/Twilight-The-Musical.  There are a variety of pledge levels from $15 Human contribution, which includes a personal thank you from a member of the production team, all the way up to the $5,000 Volturi level that includes a variety perks including an autographed guitar and “In Association with” credit on the concert.  For a $100 Forks High Senior donation one of the perks is a “highlight” demo CD of songs from the show.

Will you be attending Twilight: The Musical? What do you think about a full length stage production of a Twilight parody?

I had the great opportunity to go to Forks, Washington and help out my friends from The Hillywood Show as they filmed scenes for ‘Eclipse Parody.’ We are going to be releasing episodes of behind the scenes footage every week (probably 5 episodes or so) from filming. This is a little trailer that gives you a little teaser of what is to come! You excited? ;)
