Monday, April 9

Kristen Stewart celebrated her 22nd birthday.  She received online well wishes for her big day from her “Snow White and the Huntsman” co-stars Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, and Sam Claflin.

Chris Weitz will set his sights on writing instead of directing - on the set of "New Moon."

Publisher Little, Brown announced that “New Moon” director, Chris Weitz, is writing a young adult trilogy.  The first book, “The Young World,” will be released in spring 2014.

“The Young World” is the gripping first installment of a trilogy set in the not-so-distant future in a post-apocalyptic New York City following the catastrophic destruction of the world as we know it. An unknown trauma has left every child and adult on earth dead, but, for unknown reason, teenagers are spared.  Anyone between the onset of puberty and the age of twenty-one are in a world with no authority figures. And while that world would normally be a teenager’s fantasy, this world has no heat, running water, television, video games, phones, or Internet. Teenagers are the heirs to a world brought back to the Stone Age, and now they must learn to master it in order to survive.

R.I.P. 100 Monkeys.  Last month it was announced that Jackson Rathbone was leaving 100 Monkeys, the band he has been part of since it formed in 2008.  The band said then that they intended to continue with two new performers, since bandmate, Jerad Anderson, also had left. On Friday, it was announced on the band’s website, hours before a show with its two new band members, that due to actions taken by Jackson’s lawyers that the band could no longer use the name 100 Monkeys moving forward. Within another hour the site was gone.  For my full report on the end of 100 Monkeys and a review of Friday night’s show click here.

Maggie Grace in "Lockout."

“Lockout” starring Maggie Grace and “The Cabin in the Woods” with Jodelle Ferland opened in theaters. Early box office numbers indicate that neither was able to take the top spot over “The Hunger Games,” but “The Cabin in the Woods,” which earned a 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, took in $14.9 million and third place. “Lockout” did not garner strong reviews and only took in $6.3 million.

Jackson Rathbone announced via twitter his departure from 100 Monkeys.

100 Monkeys announced on their website today that Jackson Rathbone and bandmate, Jerad Anderson, are leaving the band due to the demands of the personal lives and professional careers.  Within an hour of the announcement, Jackson Rathbone tweeted “Sadly, I am no longer playing with 100 Monkeys… My passion for music continues and hope to have something new you guys can hear very soon! Love and respect, ~Jackson,” and then he tweeted a picture of two parrots.

100 Monkeys said they will continue with Ben Grauper, Ben Johnson and Lawrence “Uncle Larry” Abrams and they will announce new accompanying musicians soon as they intend to continue with five musicians.

100 Monkeys full announcement from their website:

We have much love for both and wish them well, and they will always be welcome if they should ever decide to drop in on any future shows, or make appearances on recordings. The last four years of albums, tours and other projects have truly been fantastic, and the legacy they leave behind in their work will be remembered in all of our future endeavors. We wish them the best in their future projects and anticipate great new things to come.

Ben Johnson, Ben Graupner, and Lawrence Abrams will continue with 100 Monkeys and will be working onward with the release of the band’s new single “City of Bones,” March 12th, and a set of shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and Las Vegas starting this April. We will be playing these as a five-piece and will announce the names of the accompanying musicians shortly.

We really can’t tell you how much we love all of you. It is an absolute honor to have received the support and encouragement you have given us through the years, and from all of us we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Many fans of the band discovered them due to Jackson Rathbone, including me, and Jackson and Jerad will be missed.  It will be interesting to see how they move forward and if they can keep up their momentum.  Keep watching 100 Monkeys for announcements on their new band members.

Fan Encounter Report from Atlanta Breaking Dawn Tour Stop

Posted on Nov 09, 2011 by Amy with 6 Comments.

Have you been wondering what exactly goes on at the Breaking Dawn cast and concert tour?  HisGoldenEyes.com reader Melissa Rife (@ejswife95) shared with us her rundown of Monday night’s experience at the Atlanta tour stop.

When we arrived at The Buckhead Theater in Atlanta we got our tickets and went into the theater. We had missed the red carpet due to traffic. The theater was very beautifully decorated with white lights on the ceiling and Breaking Dawn banners and photos set up all along the entry aisles.  Beautiful white lacy tables with red roses were set up for you to enjoy a light snack of candy “apples,” mini burgers, crab cakes and various other tasty snacks and drinks being served by sharply dressed wait staff.  There was wedding cake for dessert to add to the wedding reception ambiance.

There were two large rooms set up with different stations where you could get a temporary tattoo, have your picture taken as the happy couple in front of a green screen, you could make a poster, and they were also doing mini makeovers.  There were several TV’s set up around these rooms that were playing the Breaking Dawn trailer.  In the main theater they also had the trailer playing on the big screen.  This room was decorated with apples as garland.

While we were waiting for the main event to start they were throwing out tiaras with veils on them to the crowd.  The local radio station came on stage around 7 PM and started a trivia contest – prizes included Breaking Dawn t-shirts, key chains and special premiere movie passes.  Christina Perri was up next.  She performed three songs for us including “A Thousand Years” from the Breaking Dawn Soundtrack.  She said she was very happy to be involved in this project.

Finally we got to see the Breaking Dawn cast.  In attendance were Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Charlie Bewley.  Ashley and Nikki were beautiful, and Jackson was a hit with all the ladies as was Charlie.  Of course my attention was usually on Jackson and Charlie who were both “hamming” it up for the crowd.  We saw the many faces of Jackson Rathbone.  Ten fans were picked to go up on stage to ask the cast questions.  The cast members answered all of the questions to the best of their ability and interacted with each fan that asked a question.  The majority of the questions were for Ashley and Nikki.  Each cast member threw an autographed t-shirt to the crowd and Jackson left us with a clip of Breaking Dawn.

It was a great experience.  If this tour comes through your town I would recommend going to see it.  Tickets are hard to come by so be sure to email the tour promoter to find out how to get your tickets and also check out area radio stations who may be giving out tickets.  This was the first stop on the tour and everything was very well done.

There’s three more tour stops – tonight in Dallas, tomorrow in San Francisco, and the final stop is in Salt Lake City on Friday night.  Last night it stopped in Chicago.

Who’s going to the last three stops? Who are you excited to see?

Q&A from the Los Angeles premiere of Girlfriend with Jackson Rathbone

The Los Angeles premiere of the movie Girlfriend occurred on Wednesday, September 21 at the Downtown Independent. After the screening a Q&A session was held with members of the cast and crew including the director and writer, Justin Lerner, the cinematographer, Quyen Tran, and producers, cast members, and soundtrack artists (with their band 100 Monkeys) Jerad Anderson and Jackson Rathbone.  I recorded most of the Q&A and hope you enjoy it. *If you haven’t seen the movie there are spoilers!*

Around the 12:00 minute mark Jackson’s travel back and forth to the Breaking Dawn set is mentioned.

If you are in the Los Angeles area, the producers announced that Girlfriend will be screened again at the Downtown Independent on Sunday, October 23, but at this time no details are on the Downtown Independent’s website. Check back for details.
