Target and Walmart are the retailers that are battling for Twilight fans business this evening with events and special edition packaging DVDs and Blu-rays to entice you to their stores.  Here’s the rundown and some updated information on their events.

Target is offering an exclusive in-store sneak peek at “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2” at 11 p.m., one hour prior to the midnight release of “Part 1” on DVD and Blur-ray.  At 9 p.m. tonight, participating Target locations will begin distributing tickets for the purchase of the DVD or Blu-ray at guest services.

Target's special edition DVD/Blu-ray packaging

In addition to the regular packaging, Target is selling a unique limited edition packaging that includes an authentic prop flower from the movie set encased in a collectible keepsake case featuring a wedding portrait of Edward and Bella (DVD $29.99, Blu-ray $32.99).  According to Target.com, this special edition is sold out online, but will be available in stores.

Also, from Target’s facebook page we have learned that there is a dress up contest:

"Breaking Dawn" merchandise at Target

Target is carrying some exclusive “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” merchandise as pictured above.  My store is under renovation so if you have spotted anything other than these items I saw last night, please let us know. The available items include Edward and Jacob tees ($12.99), trio iPad cases ($39.99), iPhone case with either the trio or Edward and Bella ($24.99), and Cullen crest ear buds ($19.99).  Also,  many of the Twilight Saga books and previous DVDs/Blu-rays are on sale.

Bella and Edward exclusive fabric poster that comes with the Walmart Bella's Wedding Dress edition DVD or Blu-ray.

As for Walmart, beginning at 11 p.m. more than 2,700 Walmart stores will hold “Twilight” parties featuring giveaways, movie trivia, a bakery stocked with “Twilight” themed treats such as cupcakes and cakes, and a cameo appearance from Rosalie Cullen (Nikki Reed) on Walmart’s in-store television network while waiting for the midnight release.

Walmart is calling their version the Bella’s Wedding Dress edition and includes a fabric poster featuring Bella and Edward at the wedding, and music videos (DVD $22.96, Blu-ray $26.96 online).

Midnight event sign at Walmart

I stopped at my local Walmart last night and didn’t see any displays or merchandise, but they did have signs about the midnight event at the entrances and exits of the store.

“The Breaking Dawn, Part 1” DVD and Blu-ray Special Features are the same on each version and include a six-part “making-of” documentary, Edward and Bella wedding video,  two fast forward features that will take you to “your favorite” Edward and Jacob scenes, and audio commentary by director Bill Condon. No deleted/extended scenes or cast member audio commentary is listed to the dismay of fans who were hoping for additional wedding or honeymoon footage and more quips from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Wherever you go this evening, have a great time and enjoy your movie watching weekend!

“Breaking Dawn, Part 1″ DVD release day! You told us what you want to see during the “Part 2″ sneak peek.

Posted on Feb 10, 2012 by Amy with 4 Comments.

Bella Cullen begins her new life in "Breaking Dawn, Part 2." (Thanks @Taylorsaysthis)

We asked you what were hoping to see during Target’s exclusive “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2” sneak peek taking place at select stores this evening prior to the midnight release of “Part 1” on DVD and Blu-ray.  There were MANY responses, but here are some of the trends.

Just Bella as vampire in general was a popular response.  We also saw some additional notes about her seeing herself in the mirror the first time, or her first kiss with Edward, and her interaction with Renesmee, J. Jenks, Jacob and Edward, and her using her shield.

Some big Bella moments that we saw repeated numerous times were Bella’s first hunt, Bella’s reaction and attempted attack on Jacob when she discovers that Jacob has imprinted on Renesmee,  and Bella, Jacob and Renesmee hunting together.

Congrats to our contest winner Miranda Major who submitted “I can’t wait to see the arm wrestling match between Emmett and Bella!” While Miranda was the lucky winner in the drawing she was one among many who are excited for the arm wrestling match.

While Bella was popular among our readers, Edward certainly wasn’t forgotten.  We had multiple submissions for Edward playing the piano and interacting with Renesmee, Bella letting Edward read her thoughts, and Edward interacting as a family and a parent with Bella and Renesmee.

Charlie seeing Jacob phase and also Charlie’s reaction to seeing his granddaughter for the first time are anxiously awaited by some. Getting a look at Bella’s cottage and the Volturi standoff/fight/battle were popular choices, too.  New vampires were brought up with Melissa specifically calling out Kate, Garrett and the Egyptians, while Gretchen wants to see the Romanians, Stefan and Vladmir.

There were several other answers that caught our attention.

Sarah said she wants to see “how they make Renesmee grow.”

We saw two submissions for the moment Alice drops the vase and a couple for just Jasper in general.

One of my favorites came from Diana, who’s moment we are not going to see until November, but she was curious about the ending of the saga and if it will be the same as the book.

Thank you to everyone for your submissions and again, congrats to Miranda!

I’m very excited about the “Breaking Dawn, Part 2” sneak peek tonight. I can’t wait to see it and I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of it, too!
