In Twilight, Phil was played by Matt Bushell, but now Summit has confirmed that Ty Olsson will be playing Phil Dwyer, Bella’s stepfather and Renee’s husband, in Breaking Dawn. He has played roles in several sci-fi shows such as Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, and Defying Gravity. Find him on IMDB HERE.

i imagined him bald for some reason (not old, bald) and kinda pudgy. but he works! :)

  2. Kim says:

That’s strange, I thought Phil wasn’t really in Breaking Dawn? Did he show up to the wedding?

Or maybe I’m thinking of Eclipse, I know that’s why Renee didn’t go to Bella’s graduation, because Phil was injured. I could have sworn he wasn’t in Breaking Dawn though.

And this is one recasting decision I don’t mind, because you really couldn’t see him in Twilight, and he just sounded kind of odd to me. I know he was supposed to be younger than Renee, but he sounded like some kid.

  3. Meghann says:

Nah he is in breaking dawn because I remember the part where Bella and Edward are leaving for their honeymoon and Bella looks back and sees Renee holding charlies hand and Phil has his arms around Renee and she discribes the different types of love that she sees and so on lol.

  4. Deborah says:

I think he is an excellent choice. The way Bella describes her mother and how Phil makes her feel younger. He is as I had pictured him. He will fit in nicely. Happey Holidays to you all.

WATER FOR ELEPHANTS TRAILER IS OUT! GET ON DAT SHEEYIT, HGE!!

  6. Clymer says:

He’s in the book because as someone else stated they bring him in to see Nessy and they get him to guess what everyone is by giving him hints. He may be in the movie in like a 30 minute section, maybe more.

  7. I truly enjoyed looking at this write-up! I most definitely are going to be coming back to read a lot more intriguing ideas! Thanks!
